The BIO International Mixer gathered the night before the BIO International Convention commenced, serving as a kickoff to the week. Coordinated by UC San Diego Alumni https://alumni.ucsd.edu/, guests included alumni, industry leaders, and friends coming together with colleagues from the School of Biological Sciences and various academic departments. A panel discussion held in the grand and spacious Park & Market Forum was led by UC San Diego alumnus and President and CEO of AustinPx Tim Scott, exploring the benefits of UC San Diego’s Corporate Affiliates Program (BioCAP), which is designed to foster collaborative relationships with industry partners and enrich the student experience as scholars prepare for life after graduation. Guests enjoyed access to the Senses Human Bistro space, adjacent to the Forum, for lively networking and more intimate, collaborative conversations.
AI Digital Biology Labs Revolution – in Guggenheim Theatre
The AI Digital Biology Labs Revolution, hosted by ThinkingNode.Life (TNL), marked a significant milestone in integrating AI with biotechnology. Held in the state-of-the-art Guggenheim Theatre, the gathering showcased TNL’s role as the first Digital Cell Clone Factory that produces human cell simulations to predict and understand cell behavior/response to drugs. Leading companies like Aureka Bio, KWAAI, Potato, and Moonwalk Bio also presented, highlighting their innovative approaches to biotech research through incorporating AI tools.
The event drew a diverse crowd from the AI and biotech/pharma sectors, as well as universities and hospitals. Dynamic panel discussions made great use of the responsive Guggenheim Theatre space to highlight current challenges and future directions for AI in the sector. The event served as a platform for networking and collaboration while offering attendees insights into leveraging AI to enhance their research and development strategies.
California-Latin American Life Sciences Networking Reception – in Executive Meeting Rooms
Delegations from Brazil and Mexico convened at the California-Latin American Life Sciences Networking Reception to interact with local biotech ecosystem stakeholders interested in collaboration. The event was hosted by the Institute of the Americas, Park & Market resident partner the Burnham Center for Community Advancement, and Biocom California, leveraging the flexible Executive Meeting rooms on Park & Market’s second floor to create a dynamic experience, offset by exquisite views of Downtown San Diego. The Consul Generals of Brazil (Los Angeles consulate) and Mexico (San Diego consulate) participated as speakers, along with delegation representatives.
Biocom California Venture Hub Showcase International Pitch Event – in Executive Meeting Rooms
The Venture Hub Showcase, hosted by Biocom California, provided an excellent opportunity for attendees to present their projects, connect with potential strategic partners and investors, and discover the latest advancements in life sciences from fellow innovators. Presenters included MyoGene Bio, Nano PharmaSolutions, Norachem, NovoMedix, Medific, and VSPharmTech.
