Get Your Comic ON in July 2024: Comic-Con Themed Events Take Over UC San Diego Park & Market
UC San Diego Park & Market in Downtown San Diego invites you to get your Comic ON July 24-28, with special events for all interests and ages during the week of Comic-Con.
Whether you’re a gamer, comics, or anime fan, or just want to get into the spirit of Comic-Con, Park & Market has something to entice, including a series of binational opportunities and a Sunday family day.
Highlights include:
- A free, in-person program from award-winning, legendary game master Matt Forbeck, sponsored by MAVERiC Studio, featuring an “Actual Play” experience to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Dungeons and Dragons.
- Special appearance by Jis y Trino, celebrated cartoonists from Mexico, presenting their latest materials, a cartoon jam and a talk show with special guests and giveaway opportunities.
- Hands-on XR Games Masterclass series, featuring two dynamic opportunities to put world-building skills into action with Dr. Neil Smith from the Qualcomm Institute at UC San Diego.
- Anime workshop on Osamu Tezuka, “the Father of Manga,” led by UC San Diego’s Rachel Costello, executive producer of the U.S. Navy’s “Sea Strike 2041” comic project.
- “Fronte Risas” Comedy Night, presented by Border X in collaboration with Chicano-Con.
- Family Day Fiesta, in partnership with the UC San Diego Library, showcasing a puppet parade.
Park & Market, located at 1100 Market Street, is a state-of-the-art building in the East Village. It’s the perfect venue to celebrate Comic-Con 2024 and experience worlds colliding, minds melding and collaborations thriving.
Most events are free and open to the public, though some have a fee. All events require a separate registration.
