Food and film created a harmonious pair on October 8, 2024, when San Diego-based Pacific Arts Movement presented their stylish Chew the Scene event, with Park & Market as the backdrop.
The celebratory occasion provided a first look at the 25th Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival, taking place November 7-16. This year’s festival will screen more than 170 films in 40 different languages from 35 countries.
Sprawling through Park & Market’s al fresco Outdoor Amphitheater spaces, including the Overlook Terrace, the festive event hosted several hundred culture seekers, eager to be among the first to see highlights of this year’s milestone festival. Their participation included the opportunity to purchase tickets before anyone else to the Festival’s film premieres, special events, and more.
Attendees enjoyed culinary tastings from over a dozen of San Diego’s top AAPI chefs, restaurants, and vendors presenting their take on Asian American cuisine. See all the photos.
The San Diego Asian Film Festival (SDAFF) is San Diego’s premier film showcase of Asian American and international cinema. Founded in 2000, the festival has grown to become the largest exhibition of Asian cinema in the western United States, and has showcased everything from future classics like Bong Joon-ho’s Memories of Murder (US Premiere) to luminary independent work like Patrick Wang’s award-winning In the Family (North American Premiere).
Each year, the festival brings West Coast, North American, and World premieres of films from around the world to San Diego and gives audiences unique opportunities to discover international cinema.
SDAFF is produced by Pacific Arts Movement (Pac Arts), a non-profit media arts organization dedicated to sharing Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander cinema to inspire, entertain, and support a more compassionate society.
